Our Team

Robert Moore, MBA

Robert Moore is a consulting professional with a broad range of expertise. He is a principal of QGI Consulting with extensive experience including market forecasting as part of acquisitions related due diligence. In addition, he has provided market research, operational and business planning advice to a variety of private sector clients.

Prior to joining QGI Robert worked for both the Government of Canada and at one of North America’s largest transportation companies where he was instrumental in the establishment of that firms’ ongoing customer satisfaction research program. Subsequently he held senior positions in Operations and Marketing Departments including; Sr. Market Manager, System Director of Equipment Management and Director Traffic Management Systems.


Milt Poirier

Milt Poirier is one of the founding partners of the Quorum Group of Companies. He acts as team leader for QGI Consulting initiatives providing clients with expert advice on transportation and distribution issues, market analysis, and technology issues related to transportation. In addition to his role with QGI Milt is responsible for managing development activities for the company’s technology subsidiary qtms Inc.

Prior to establishing the Quorum Group of Companies he spent fifteen years with a leading North American transportation carrier where he held a number of senior management positions in Operations and Marketing departments. He was instrumental in the development of that company’s performance metrics systems and played a prominent role in their very successful privatization and IPO in 1995.


Mark Hemmes

Mark Hemmes is a career transportation executive and a founding partner of the Quorum Group of Companies. Mark is currently leading the efforts of Quorum’s subsidiary company in the monitoring and measurement of the Canadian Grain Handling and Transportation System on behalf of the Federal Government of Canada.

Prior to the creation of the Quorum Group of Companies he spent 21 years with Canadian National Railway. During his career with CN he held a number of senior management positions in both the Operations and Marketing departments of CN. He is an active participant in transportation industry policy issues through his involvement in a number of organizations. In 1998 he served as the National President for National Transportation Week in Canada and sat on the Board of Directors for the Transportation Association of Canada.


Bruce McFadden

Bruce McFadden is an agricultural transportation specialist with extensive experience in all aspects of the grain industry supply chain and policy and commercial issues in the agricultural sector. Bruce is currently assigned to the position of Director Research & Analysis – Grain for Quorum Corporation – a subsidiary of the Quorum Group contracted by the Federal Government of Canada to monitor and measure the Canadian Grain Handling and Transportation System. In this capacity he is accountable for all grain industry issues and acts as the principal liaison to the grain industry.

Prior to joining Quorum in 2001 Bruce enjoyed a distinguished twelve-year career with Canadian Grain Transportation Agency. During his tenure at the GTA Bruce held a number of senior management posts including Executive Director of Operations. In this role he held overall accountability for operation of Canada’s government hopper car fleet and the coordination of all operational issues between all supply chain participants.

Bruce has a degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Manitoba.


Marcel Beaulieu, MBA

Marcel Beaulieu is a career transportation executive with extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. He is currently assigned to the position of Director Research & Analysis – Rail for Quorum Corporation – a subsidiary of the Quorum Group contracted by the Federal Government of Canada to monitor and measure the Canadian Grain Handling and Transportation System. In this capacity he is accountable for all rail issues and acts as the principal liaison to the railway industry. A native of Montreal, Marcel completed his post-secondary education at Concordia and McGill universities and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Concordia University.

Prior to joining Quorum, Marcel spent sixteen years with Canadian National Railways serving in a number of positions within the company’s Operations and Marketing departments. Marcel also spent time as an independent management consultant providing expert advice to private and public sector clients on issues ranging from transportation infrastructure competitiveness, safety, and regulatory reform. Marcel has been a featured contributor of articles pertaining to the North American transportation industry in a number of international publications.


Brian Dumsday P.Eng, CMC

Brian Dumsday is a Senior Associate of QGI Consulting. He is a Certified Management Consultant and a recognized expert in Supply Chain Management. He specializes in all aspects of supply chain and logistics management, benchmarking, business process reengineering, activity-based costing, and the application of various industrial engineering techniques to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Brian’s wide ranging experience over his many years as a professional management consultant give him a broad perspective in the analysis of organizational strategy and planning as well as practical experience in the deployment of such strategies at a tactical level.


Dr. Shelley Thompson, B.S.A., M.Sc., Ph.D

Dr. Thompson is an associate of QGI Consulting. Shelley has a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota (major in Agricultural Economics, minor in Economics), and a M.Sc. and a B.S.A. from the University of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Thompson has a unique combination of senior management and business development experience. She specializes in and has extensive experience in the fields of applied economic research in the agribusiness sector, strategic marketing, business planning and development.
